1. Keep spokes evenly tensioned
Loose spokes will move slightly with every pedal stroke. If the movement occurs between the steel hub flange and the spoke elbow, the moving spokes will fatigue or wear out.
2. Avoid overloading
Overloading increases the pressure on the spokes, and constant pressure while riding can cause them to break.
3. Maintain proper tire pressure
Tire pressure set too low will result in more tread contact with the ground, and the impact on obstacles will put pressure on the spokes, resulting in wear and tear.
4. Use decent spokes
Poor quality spokes are less able to withstand pressure and can easily break.
