Kielder Forest’s Lonesome Pine bike trail is a popular route among biking enthusiasts. The trail was closed for three years due to significant damage caused by Storm Arwen in 2021. After extensive maintenance and restoration efforts, it has now reopened to the public. This scenic path offers stunning views of the Northumberland countryside and features the longest wooden boardwalk in England, which helps riders navigate the marshy areas of Purdom Pike. From this elevation, riders can ascend over 1,000 feet to enjoy breathtaking views of the North Tyne Valley.
Several trails in the area have been reopened and cater to riders of all skill levels. It’s advisable to check with the Forest Service for specific opening information before your trip to stay updated on trail conditions.
