Ranger headset adjustment

Does anyone know what is required in order to tighten the headset on the Ranger? I have tried the top cap tightening process etc. but seems to make no difference, there is a rattle coming from front end and is some play where stem goes through frame just under handlebars.

I’m unsure if there is any other method to tighten up the bearings on the headset

Just give us few hours to test, let us to find the best way for you and reply you later here again.

Hi there, please check this video and steps:

  • Use M5 and M4 hex keys to remove the stem cap bolts and loosen the stem clamp bolts. Lift off the stem and spacers.

  • Use an M5 hex key to loosen the 3 bolts on the upper fork clamp. Lift off the clamp.

  • Hold the fork upward. Install the lower bearing with no gap to the head tube. Slide the upper bearing cover in place.

  • Install the upper clamp, spacers, and stem while still holding the fork. Check gaps—small, even gaps are OK.

  • Tighten the top cap bolt into the star nut, then tighten the 3 bolts on the upper clamp.

  • Loosen the stem cap slightly, adjust stem position, then tighten the 3 stem clamp bolts.

Hi Julin,
Thank you for sending this video and instructions, I will try this process and let you know. I see this is done on the Ranger 2.0 but I suppose process is the same for 1st model.

Yes, it’s the same process for Ranger 1.0. Just drop a message if you have any other questions.

Problem fixed thanks guys, appreciate your help, no rattles at front now!
