Riding Ebike in Acadia National Park

During the past 5 years, more and more ebike riders have shown up in Acadia National Park. Recent studies have shown that about half of all cyclists in the park are using electric bikes.

Located in Maine, Acadia National Park is renowned for its stunning coastline, lush forests, and abundant wildlife. Ebike riding helps transform the way people explore nature, making it easier and more comfortable to discover unseen scenery.

The National Park Service has permitted Class 1 electric bikes (with a maximum speed of 20 mph) to ride on designated bike paths and roads within the park. This means we can now ride electric bikes to easily explore further routes!

Recommended Cycling Route: The Loop Road

  • Starting Point: Visitor Center

  • Route: Ride along the Park Loop Road, passing beaches, cliffs, and lighthouses

  • Distance: Approximately 27 miles

  • Difficulty: Moderate (with some uphill sections)

  • Highlights: Thunder Hole, Sand Beach, Cadillac Mountain

This route allows you to take in some of the park’s most breathtaking scenery. The assistance from electric bikes makes it easier to tackle the hills and fully enjoy the views along the way.
