Voyage brakes without motor assistance

Hello, when I turn off the motor assistance on my Voyage, the bike slows down (becomes extremely hard to pedal)
and you can’t ride it like a normal bike anymore.
Is this normal? Or a defect?

Hello,
Thank you for your question.
It is normal that an ebike feels heavier than a regular bicycle when motor assistance is turned off, because there is inherent resistance from the motor.

However, if the resistance feels excessively high, please carry out these checks:

  1. Confirm brake levers are fully released and brake pads are not rubbing against the rotor.
  2. Lift the bike up and check whether the wheel spins freely with power off.

If the above checks show no issue, please adjust your shifter and select a suitable gear on the cassette. Using the correct gear will make pedaling much smoother for riding without assistance.

If you still have heavy drag after these steps, feel free to contact our support team for further troubleshooting.

Best regards,
